Everything about privacy is bad news nowadays. Every single article you see today is simply doomer-based and it gets tiring hearing about it. Unfortunately, good news doesn't get likes, so it's not brought up frequently. I'm writing this post to say there is some hope.

You.

You all are the hope that we have. Privacy is becoming an quicker growing concern due to all of the evidence of our invaded privacy in the world. Some of these things are Flock cameras being placed in every city, the Ring doorbell Super Bowl commercial, and Palantir constantly being in headlines. All of these companies' bad doings are making it clearer to see that we have a problem here. Us humans aren't people, we're data. We're numbers. But, as the saying goes...

There's strength in numbers.

There have been a substantial amount of people voicing their concerns on privacy. There are full city council meetings constantly when they are discussing company services such as Flock and datacenters. The comedian and YouTuber Charlie Berens is frequently going to city council meetings to speak for the people. According to that article, 99% of the comments garnered on a video of his were positive, no matter the political party.

“I will stick to comedy when our politicians stick to policy and stop protecting big tech and start protecting the people that put them into office” - Charlie Berens

250 years ago, the people chose to unite to make a greater country. We can unite once again to ensure that we the people get the country, and world, we deserve. Continue voicing your concerns at common council meetings. Spread awareness to your local communities. We can do something and, believe it or not, it's not even that much effort to do so.
